Recorded in Washington D.C., at the home studio of Robert Gordon, the late Gil Scott-Heron bassist and Secretary of Entertainment, "A Song for Gil," was written by Jeff Schwachter (vocals, guitar) and produced by Robert Gordon (bass, synths) with a very special guest from Gil's band on drums. This tribute to Gil, who passed in 2011, was recorded as a sketch in 2013. A rare track for those who love Gil, hip-hop and soulful music in general, this song has been heralded as truly unique tribute to one of the best songwriters we've ever known who passed away too soon. The song first appeared on iTunes as "song for gil unplugged live."
